I bet you’re wondering what a “Rose Paved Path” could be and why is it part of our story. Well, it’s quite an interesting story. Before Brian and I were officially dating, a lot of things were standing in our way. I don’t feel at liberty to share the details of those things, but they were out of our control and not Brian’s nor my fault. These things made me worry that we wouldn’t and couldn’t ever marry and our future would be left at a standstill. Only my family and pastor at the time knew about these things. One Sunday morning, Brian was working an early shift in Boston while I was at church. Everyone there knew we were close—most probably assumed we were dating—but almost no one knew the truth about what we were walking through.
After service, I stayed behind to clean up the Children’s Church room. It was my normal routine—wiping down the whiteboard, putting the Bibles back in their basket, tucking the puppets into their suitcases like little sleepy travelers. It gave me space to think, to pray in silence, to breathe.
My sister popped her head in. “You almost done?” she asked. “I can help if you need to, and then we can grab lunch!”
“Sure,” I smiled. “I just have to log out and grab my bags from my office and we can head out.”

We walked down to the sanctuary where the last few people were chatting, saying their goodbyes. I stopped to let my pastor know I’d see him at our board meeting later in the week. Just as I turned to leave, a church member came up to me and wrapped me in a hug.
It was warm, unexpected.
She started praying softly: “Oh God, bless her and guide her…” I bowed my head on her shoulder. But then her voice shifted. Her tone deepened, and I knew something was happening. The prayer became something else—something prophetic.
“I feel the Lord is saying… don’t worry. Don’t worry. You will be married and have a family. You will have a unique family. It will be a long, hard road… but it will be paved with rose petals.”
Tears welled up instantly. I wasn’t even sure why—maybe the sudden hope in her words, maybe the way they cut through my doubt. I didn’t fully understand what it meant, but hearing it was like someone reached inside my heart and flipped on the light. A family. A marriage. A future. These weren’t just dreams. They were promises.
Later, I thought about the word unique. It made me a little nervous… but maybe it meant a blended family—Brian’s son, the way we were coming together in a less-than-conventional way. And rose petals? Maybe that was about the wedding aisle. I smiled thinking, Okay, God. Rose petals down the aisle. I can do that.
What I didn’t know was that the real meaning—what God was truly saying—would unfold over the next six years. The road would get harder. The path would get steeper. But those rose petals? They’d be there. Even in the most unexpected places.
Even when the path feels uncertain, God’s promises are never delayed. Sometimes we don’t understand the full meaning of His words right away, but His faithfulness is always at work — guiding, shaping, and preparing us for what’s ahead. I’ll come back to this “Rose Paved Path” in a future blog post where you’ll see just how amazing God is and how He has everything already planned out.
✨ Reflection Prompt:
What promise from God has given you hope in the middle of uncertainty? How can you lean on Him today, even when the road feels long or unclear? What is your Rose Paved Path?
